Dani Alves has been held in custody without bail since January 20 awaiting trial after being charged of allegedly raping a 23-year-old girl at the Sutton nightclub in Barcelona on December 30.
The Barcelona Court of Appeal will decide on the pre-trial detention of the former Barcelona right-back in a hearing that will take place on Thursday.
His legal team has requested his release, an appeal opposed by the public prosecutor's office and the private prosecution.

According to El Periodico, a security camera of the nightclub captured Alves leaving the premises after the alleged incident.

El Periodico sources explain that Dani Alves passed by the young women, almost brushing against them, while the victim told the nightclub employees about the alleged sexual assault she had just suffered in the bathrooms.
"I asked her 'But what happened to you? Tell me what happened to you! You have to calm down'," the bouncer told the police as per La Vanguardia.
