  • In 1998, he had won the Elementary National Championship, and a year later, he had set the Arizona state record for youngest national master, at 14 years old. In 2000, he had clinched Junior High National Championship, held in Tucson, Arizona.
  • In 2004, his final year in high school, he had tied for the National High School Championship, before defeating future grandmaster Aleksandr Lenderman to lift the title. Later that year, he had attained his first International Master (IM) norm at the Foxwoods Open held in Mashantucket, Connecticut. The feat had helped him become the highest-rated 19-year-old in the United States that year.

  • In 2009, he began to provide in-depth chess analysis and education on Chess.com. His most popular series include Rook Endgames: Beginner to Master series, Isolated Queen Pawns, Pawn Structure 101, and Everything You Need to Know. He has also written instructive content for the website.
