Padma Lakshmi is probably most famous for being the host of the reality television program Top Chef. Padma became the host during season two, in 2006. She was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India on September 1, 1970. Her father was of Keralite descent and worked as an executive at Pfizer, her mother Vijaya was a nurse who specialized in suicide prevention.
Lakshmi attended the Workman High School in Industry, California, and in 1992 she graduated from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts, with a B.A. with honors in Theater Arts. Padma is multi-lingual speaking English, Tamil, Hindi, Italian, and Spanish. She was the first Indian model to have a career in Paris, Milan, and New York.
